Patriot Memory, a leading manufacturer of high-performance enthusiast memory modules, SSDs, flash storage and gaming peripherals, has announced a firmware update to be made available for the recently released VP4300 Lite NVMe 2.0 SSD.
In a recent investigation post-launch, Patriot Memory has found thermal reporting errors with the VP4300 Lite’s current firmware (H230407a). These errors are incorrectly displaying higher than actual temperatures within monitoring applications while temperature and performance are within normal specs. Due to this, the Patriot Memory team has worked with the flash controller manufacturer to prepare a firmware update set to correct the thermal information passed to monitoring applications.
This error is found to occur in VP4300 Lite units with the following serial numbers:
022305291000001-022305291000500
022305291200001-022305291200500
For VP4300 Lite users with units featuring one of the listed serial numbers above, Patriot Memory is providing a firmware update to resolve thermal reporting errors. In order to install the new firmware update (H230407b), please visit Patriot Memory’s VP4300 Lite page at https://viper.patriotmemory.com/products/viper-vp4300lite-pcie-m-2-gen4x4-solid-state-drive.
In addition to this, all VP4300 Lite units released outside of the listed serial numbers will have the new firmware (H230407b) installed and will not experience this problem. Patriot Memory does not recommend installing the update to any VP4300 Lite drives outside of the affected serial numbers listed.
