How can I connect my device to the gauntlet wireless AND connect to my wireless internet at the same time?

Through Android/Ios Device:

1) Open the Gauntelt Connect Application.

2) Hit 'Menu' on the bottom right.

3) Hit 'Settings'.

4) Select Wi-Fi Networks and locate your desired SSID and enter password (if necessary).

Through Computer:

1) Type in the Gauntlet Node's IP Address in your browser:

10.10.10.254.

2) Look under setup and then Network Connections.

3) Select Wi-Fi Networks and locate your desired SSID and enter password (if necessary).

You should now be connected to your Gauntlet Node and Wireless Network for Internet Access.

Why is my Seagate Momentous XT Hybrid drive not getting detected in Gauntlet Node?

On the Gauntlet Node, can I access the USB and be connected to Wifi at the same time?

No, you cannot. Because of the risk of overhating, the Guanlet Node has built-in hardware protection that prevents simulataneous access of the USB port AND Wireless connection simultaneously.

How do I access the Gauntlet Node through my computer?

When wirelessly connected, open a start/run command (Windows) or locate the Finder (Mac) and type the following IP:

When prompted for a username and password, use 'admin and 'admin'.

How do I know when the battery is charged for my Gauntlet Node?

If the battery indicator is lit red, the unit is charging. Green will indicate that the charge is complete.

How do I update the firmware to the Gauntlet Node?

How to update the Gauntlet Node-

Unzip the file and take the file PAXX_X.X.X.X.bin and put it into the root folder of your Gauntlet Node HDD/SSD (You can do this by going through the USB)

If you are using a PC:

Open any browser and type in “10.10.10.254”
While you are in the GUI, select “Setup”
Select “Update Software”
Under “SDA…,” your folder “Firmware” should be selectable

If you are using a tablet:

Make sure you are connected to the Gauntlet Node wirelessly
Open the application

How do I reset the ssid password to the Gauntlet Node?

To reset the password, look for the reset button on the corner of the unit where the 'node' logo is; insert a small pin at the reset button for 5 seconds. The unit will turn off and you will have the option to reset the password once the unit is turned back on. Your data will still be intact.

I just purchased my Gauntlet Node, why doesn't my device pick up the Gauntlet Node through Wifi?

Try charging the battery through the wall jack for a few hours and re-try it. The Gauntlet will require more power in order to be seen via wireless, for some devices.

What type of drive can I use with Gauntlet Node?

Gauntlet Node has a built in SATA 2 connector designed to work with 2.5” inch 9.5mm(height) internal hard drives and SSD drives.

Gauntlet Node Facts & Myths (a general understanding) :

If I use an SSD the node will stream faster to my tablet or phone wirelessly.

---This is false. Even though SSD drives are faster than hard drives the transfer(upload/download) speed will not get influenced as you are limited to Wi-Fi speeds.

I can’t use a Gauntlet node on a notebook or desktop PC.

---This is false, Gauntlet node can be connected to a desktop or notebook PC using the built-in wireless router or by connecting it using the provided USB cable.

Gauntlet Node is USB 3.0, I should be able use it on computers that have USB 2.0 and/or USB 3.0 ports.

---This is true, USB 3.0 is backwards compatible to USB 2.0, this means Gauntlet Node can be used on USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports.

What are the advantages of using a Hard drive over and SSD inside Gauntlet Node?

---Hard drives use rapidly rotating discs (platters) coated with magnetic material which have been around for some time now. As a result of the technology being available for number of years the capacity has grown and the cost has dropped. This translates to larger size(capacity) drive at a lower price. So if you are using Gauntlet Node to store large amount movies, music, pictures, and data it makes sense to consider this option over an SSD.

---Solid state disk(SSD) is a relatively newer technology than traditional hard drives. SSD drives use Flash chips(same as what is used inside a USB flash drive). There are no rotating disks or mechanically moving parts which result in better protection against drops and vibration. Since SSD uses flash chips for storage the cost per GB is relatively higher than hard drives; thus, making it ideal for application where speed(i.e. booting up a PC) is more important that storage size(storing large amount of data).

Can the Gauntlet Node or Gauntlet 320 save passthrough passwords?

No, it can not. This is a security related. The password is only kept for as long as the device is ON. Also to prevent unwanted and unauthorized connections to the internet through the node .

The device password on the other hand is saved at all times to prevent unauthorized connections to the Node.

Is it normal for the unit to lose battery life when not in use?

Yes, when off (or idle), it is normal for the unit to discharge some battery life. For optimum charge, it is recommeded to use the wall jack adapter to fully charge the unit.
