Default Alignment Offset

I have a Torqz 64 GB that has a alignment offset of 31K instead of 1024k which I am sure is giving me performance issues. How do I fix this?

SeaTrane, I'm wondering how did you find this out?

I think there are two programs, "Diskpar" or "Diskpart" which can align the drives. I haven't done this to my drive yet, but I plan on it when I do a Windows 7 install.

Do you know for a fact that it should be aligned to 1024K on a 64GB Torqx? Is this an m28 or an indilinx drive?

I found it out using AS SSD Benmark. It was actually 31k. It said "31 bad" in the alignment section of the benchmark. Im not sure what its supposed to be, i have read anywhere from 32 to 2048. My other ssd reads 1024 and they are both indilnix controlled.I have been using Acronis True image for moving my disk images and im not sure if it aligned it right. I used diskpart to fix it and my writes improved by about 30%.

Interesting. I'll have to check out AS SSD Benchmark. I have also heard varying offsets as well. I have read 64 to 1024 I think. I guess I'll end up going with 512 or 1024 to be safe. 512 seems to be the most agreed upon block size. 1024 could be safer though. Having a small drive (64GB), I'm betting my block size is 512K on the m28 drive.

Mine also says 31K bad in AS SSD Benchmark. This must mean I have the same offset? I imaged this drive with my OS and everything on it at the time when I bought and put it into use. I did not install Windows from scratch on this drive. I also did not do any sort of pre processing or aligning on the drive before I imaged (ghosted) it.

Go to Control panel>Performance and info tools>advanced tools>advanced sys details>component>storage>disks. All your disk info is found there, including offset. If it says 32,000 something I would leave it alone and not worry about it.

Partition Starting Offset 1,048,576 bytes
this is the correct offset as set by windows 7 it is the same for my torqx 128,
my 500gb wd and, my maxtor 500gb
and you can't argue with my speeds see attached

If your offset is off wait until you are going to do the fw upgrade, use diskpart to get the proper align ment before loading the os back.
