T.J.
From what I hear it should address the perfomance drop in 1881. We will be releasing 1916 sometime this week.

Default Destructive update?

Will the 1916 update still be destructive or can it be applied without wiping out all of the data on the drive?

Just because of this and also because the updates are always the last ones (compare to others brands using the same hardware), my Patriot Torqx will be my first and my last thing coming from Patriot.

Default i don't have bad issues

with my drives, i have Patriot beacouse my shop order them (i wan't to buy ocz agility ex but i can't find this) and i don't have much choice -> but i think this is good drives and probably i will buy nex gen Patriot drives when the will be avaiable, also i thinking about buying Patriot memory modules but i would like stuff optimized for AMD not for intel, there are plenty memory sets for intel and i don't like that situation

If i don't have choice, i'll buy Patriot too but thx god, i have choice.

I bought a laptop from HP, ridiculous support (they moved the European support to the north of Africa...), updates are just useless, etc.

I will send my laptop back to HP.

I bought this SSD Patriot Torqx and i can see that Crucial customers have a better support, faster releases and they don't need to wipe any data to update the firmware.

I'm just so bored to buy things with poor support...

So, i'll keep my SSD but next time i buy something with a better support.

Default i know

wiping out data is really problem to many users, but for me this is only small issue -> i must rebuild raid array by creat new one and format discs before do that to have good performance, but i also must have another hdd to do OS install or have acess to another PC and another hdd to make data copy from OS/APPS partition, but i also really want to see non destructible firmware revision

Wiping out the data should only be a problem if you are not using a backup method that would allow you to rebuild your computer easily in the event of a HD failure. If you are using a SSD without a proper backup you are playing with fire. I for one am not excited about having to wipe my drive again and reimage but it will only take 45min tops.

Who is enough crazy to don't use backups?

Off course i have images of my disk.

But is not really the same taking more than 1 hour for an update than taking 2 minutes...

If there is not another way, i understand and i do, but actually, there is a way to do it without deleting everything.

Understood. I am hoping that at some point the FW updates are less frequent and the occasional re-image is no big deal. If they the updates are spaced far enough apart a reinstall will be a good thing.

As for who would operate without backups? 95-99% of home users.
