MacBook Doesn't See SSD

I tried a Patriot SSD v2 in my 2GHz MacBook Core Duo (MA255LL/A). The OS 10.4 installer and its Disk Utility could not see the SSD.
I used my OS 10.5 Mac Pro to successfully format & install OS 10.4 on the SSD, but my MacBook boot picker still cannot see it.

I'm not sure if the problem is the OS (is 10.5 needed?) or my old model of MacBook. Has anyone else got Mac OS 10.4 working on an SSD?

Have you tried formatting the drive in a GUID Partition Table?

Yes, the format i used was GUID.

Make sure you use the disk utility at the beginning of the install as well as setting it to GUID. Try a HFS + Journaled Format. It worked here for the 10.1 OS (Desktop) we have here.

I just bought a v3 256GB, and my macbook can't see the disk in diskutilities.
Tried to create GUID with a partition, but still can't see the disk in diskutilities.
I can see that the disk is attached in system profile under Serial-ATA
Any solutions?

I have the same problem with a Mac Mini Core Duo 1.66 +SSD Warp 32Go V2.

I've sent an email to the support. But I don't have any answer yet. But for me, it doesn't have anything to do with the OS. I think it should be an issue with open firmware (bios form Apple) and AHCI mode.

Good point, xs_roller75. Is everyone on the same, latest bios?

Apple provides the updates automatically. And there no updates ont that point, since a long time.

Important too : user can't access open firmware or EFI. There's a way to have a terminal window just after start up. But you need to know the exact command lines to do something. Because, there is no GUI like a PC Bios.


Is there a way to solve that issue by updating the firmware of the SSD ?
