When my SSD took a dump on me on Jan 1, I was looking frantically for a way to re-flash with 1571 since I was forced to upgrade to 1881. Writes weren't a huge killer for me, but it did bug me somewhat. How did you flash back to 1571?

Theres only been one other person who claims to have been able to flash back ro 1571. I tried and failed along with many others, I don't believe it.

it took me a bunch of tries heres what happened: i flash my drive on another computer running windows 7 i kept trying it but it wouldnt work , i uninstalled the nvidia ata controller driver and it wouldnt work, then i uninstalled replaced the nvidia driver with the windows " standard ata driver " using device manager and it still didnt work, then i replaced the nvidia scsi device driver ( both in my case ) with the standard driver by right clicking the scsi device controller selecting update driver and choosing to manually choose driver from a list and selecting the standard ata driver then i did the same to the ata controller driver AND then the drive showed up as yapdangrom (INSTEAD OF YAPDANGSCSI DISK ) or whatever its called (the key is the "rom" part of it )and then the firmware update ran just fine the 1571 firmware is different than the 1881 fw in that it wont run with any enhanced controller drivers while the 1881 fw will. believe it cause its true see attached images above. THE KEY IS NO CONTROLLER DRIVER EXCEPT THE MICROSOFT STANDARD ATA DRIVER WILL WORK WITH 1571FW UPDATE. also if you dont manually select the standard controller driver the os will keep reinstalling the enchanced driver as soon as you uninstall it. it does say in the instructions that the fw update does not work if any enhanced CONTROLLER DRIVERS ARE INSTALLED

mine is 2xxxxxxx but it is probably that you need to replace your controller drivers with the standard ms ata driver you will need to MANUALLY replace driver though. 1571fw CANNOT REVERT ANY OTHER WAY I DID IT AND IT WORKED

Default You see

You have 2XXXX series drive, i know one succes -> BChat user -> also with 2XXXX series drive so i think this is not surprise that You could rewrite 1571, now i'm waiting for 1916 -> this will fix write performance loss (i think) and beasides of that 1881 works very well in my raid 0 config
