    Default PBO freezes

hi everyone. i have a PBO with the latest stock, but now i'm getting freeze ups. latest: last night in the middle of a movie (streaming from Desktop computer) the picture just froze, and the PBO wouldn't respond to any controls on the remote, had to shut it off using the power button in the back. does anyone have any idea's? Thanks.

I recommend that you try that same movie locally (USB Drive) and see if the movie still froze on you. If it still froze than you probably have a corrupted file. If it play fine than it is probably related to a network problem. This problem could be caused by the PBO or your router. You symptoms tells me that the problem is probably related to losing network connection during play. Do you use the Ethernet connection of the PBO or a wireless adapter???.

Thanks Snappy. i use wireless (Patriot dongle), but would that cause the control buttons to stop working too? it wouldn't even respond to the Power button to turn it off, let alone pause, stop, forward, etc.

Yes that is exactly how it behave if you lose network connectivity during network play; the whole player just freezes up probably trying to find the rest of streaming file. Eventually it might come back to life once it realise that the network is down but this takes a while and most of the time the only thing to bring it back is turning the switch on the back off/on. This happens to me once in a while; I am also using wireless; thankfully in my case this is more the exception rather than the rule.

    Cheers !!!

sorry for the double post, but just to update, i just setup my new Cisco wireless router (my old one may have been dropping the signal), and will try playing the same movie again, but probably not until the weekend when i'm off. Thanks Snappy, and i'll keep you posted.

sorry again for the triple post, but to update. i watched a 2 hour movie last night (though a different one) streamed wirelessly to my PBO via my new Cisco router, and there was no problems, hopefully the old wifi router was the problem. Thanks Snappy.

Glad your problem seem to be fixed. No need to be sorry for the multiple post I just wish more people would do the same and report on their findings/fix.

    Cheers!!!
