The DLNA service will allow any other DLNA device on the network to automatically connect, and should show up as "Javelin S4" in the video tab of the PS3. From there, select "Browse Folders" first, and navigate from there.
As ChrisTWL said, raid 0 is the wrong idea if you, as you said, "dont want to loose everything if there is a crash". RAID 5 is your best option, minus the 250gig.
I don't know why it needs to be labeled 'VOLUME 0', as mine is labeled 1, and have no probs with DLNA (as of the latest firmware).
