Default My Pyro SSD is SLOWER after firmware update:

    Hi all.
I have a 120GB SATAIII Pyro SSD that was running good for the few months I had it.
I originally ran an ATTO benchmark and got great read/write speeds.
As of the last few days, I started getting random reboots (BSoD) on my computer (Windows 7 x64 Home Prem).
I wasn't sure what the cause was so I tried updating the video card driver, etc.
To make a long story short, I looked on the Patriot website and saw there was a newer firmware update than what I had.
Now that I've installed the new firmware, my Windows Experience Index for the hard drive shows it as 7.0 which is the lowest on the system.
I then ran the ATTO benchmark and am getting roughly 300MB read/write.
I was getting 500+ when I first got the drive.
The drive is only 1/2 full at this point.
Any ideas as to what would cause this?
Is it possible it was the firmware update?
Any advice / input would be appreciated.
    -Sean

    Hello,

What is the make and model of your motherboard? Double check that you are running in AHCI Mode.
Try letting the system idle overnight for Garbage Collection to run it's course.

Let me know if this helps.

The motherboard is an MSI 870A-G54.
I will double-check the AHCI mode in the BIOS and see if letting the system run idle for the night helps.
    Will let you know.

    Grrrrr.
    That's what it was.
For some reason the BIOS had this as IDE.
It's strange because it let me change it to AHCI without an issue.
The OS booted and then I ran the ATTO benchmark again.
Sure enough I got good scores again (over 500).
    Thanks!!
