Default Modded VideoPlayer app to provide full title of videos

Given the delay of the new matrix firmware I made a small mod to the VideoPlayer app to enable full view of the video file name. The current truncated filename view of the VideoPlayer application is particularly annoying when all your TV shows use a format MyTVShow S01E03 .... etc... for example. I can not even see the season or the episode number because they are truncated.

Anyhow this slight mod/hack of the VideoPlayer app will now display the full filename and scroll if the filename is too long to accommodate the maximum spacing available. Basically it now behave like the PBO Core. I hope that Patriot forgive me about hacking/modding their application but I thought I would share this one with you guy's.

To install just copy to a usb stick or sd card and use the OI file manager to install it. It will replace the current VideoPlayer on the Alpine. By the way this was only tested on the Latest Matrix firmware but I think it will work on the stock firmware as well. Here's the link to the new VideoPlayer app: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15169815/And...ideoPlayer.apk

Patriot Memory if you have any issues with this small modification just let me know and I will remove the thread.

    Cheers !!!

EDIT: Here's the VideoPlayer version of the Matrix firmware which has a little bit more functionality (ex: right/left arrow to skip forward/backward) with the same modification applied. Here's the link: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/15169815/And...yer-Matrix.apk

    Enjoy!

While they should be ashamed a customer had to make a simple fix (something that should have been implemented on release), can't imagine they will have a problem with you posting it here.

Forgive you? Assuming you are not secretly a Patriot employee, I'd say they should thank you, or maybe even put you on the payroll! You manage to respond here more than Patriot does!

right! honestly snappy46 instead of apologizing they should be sending you a check. this is what they're waiting for actually. customers (or the community as they like to put it) do the work while they eat pizza in their offices and play video games.

    THANKS SNAPPY46!

what is this thing written in? and how in the world do you get uncompiled code???

Without getting into too much details (Google is your friends); the tools I used were: apktool, dex2jar, signapk and jd-gui. Most of those applications have been written in Java so they should work in windows although I used Linux to do the mod .

    Cheers !!!

I have to disagree with you on that one; community development will be great and everyone (user/Patriot) will benefit from it. To answer "the Dude" no I am not a secret Patriot employee .... .

    Cheers !!!

Awesome job. Any chance we could see alphabetical sorting on the Matrix video player?

Thank you! This makes the Alpine at least usable now. Patriots contracted people apparently don't have the time to fix the little things. Now that I can use my player, I'll check the forum in a month and see whether the firmware is ready or whether excuses are the only communications we get.

    I second everything said there.
