    Default PS100 Question

    Hey guys,

Do these drives support any form of garbage collection? I know they support trim but that's not any use to me. Reason I'm asking, I've had a 64gb ps100 in my ps3 for nearly 2yrs until it died to ylod. I've recently replaced the ps3 and thought I'd bench the drive through my pc to see how it's going. Read speeds weren't bad hitting 200mbs on atto but the writes were terrible bearly hitting 10! I've since secured erased the drive and reinstalled the latest fw-3.011 which has returned the speed.

So long story short if I leave my ps3 idle will garbage collection kick in or am I going to see the speeds drop again in the future.

    Cheers

Thanks I presumed it did, was just curious why the speed had deteriorated so much.

How long before it kicks in? Or is it just a case that once the PS3 is idle it will..

    Krazeswift,

I'd have to check into the specifics of the time it takes, but the longer the idle the better. Generally we recommend leaving it idle overnight or when the system is likely to be away for a few hours.

Ok thanks for the info, i'll make sure i allow it to idle this time. I didn't before as i wasn't sure these drives supported it.
