Question on audio capabilities

Looking for clarification on the Alpine's audio abilities. Have one in the bedroom, no audio system...tv speakers only. Want to be certain about it's capabilities before I consider getting another for the home theater setup.

It is my understanding that it can output DD5.1 or DTS (either 5.1 or down mixed to 2.0), but can't handle other HD audio formats (DTS HD/MA or Dolby True HD). If the only audio track is one that is unsupported it, will it still be able to play it at 5.1 or will there simply be no audio?

Can it passthrough the audio formats it can't decode to a receiver? If not, will it ever be able to (firmware updates)?

Hello,

The Alpine uses DTS 2.0 with downmix and passthrough using HDMI.
