Default Trim.exe - What does it do?

    Just bought a 64gb Torx2 drive.

Looked on the website for updated firmware abd noted not available yet.

However there is a utility called trim.exe to download.

Is this to update firmware when available? If not what is it for? Documentation doesn't really say and I don't want to run unless I know i'm not going to break something.

    Thanks.

    Ozzie,

Are you running Windows 7? If so, the tool isn't really necessary.

The Trim tool basically is a manual upkeeping software that acts sort of like a defrag tool for your SSD.

Since it's not safe to defrag an actual SSD, the tool will allow the system to know which blocks are being used so that the drive is more efficient when used.
