Double checked on the SATA configuration and it was still set to AHCI so set it back to IDE and I was able to boot the Win XP CD and go into recovery mode. I ran fixboot and then fixmbr. It reported the MBR bad before I rewrote it. I then exited recovery mode and ran WinXP setup again. That went well and so I then booted off the SSD and it failed, getting the "Error loading operating system" message. I then repeated this again and got the exact same thing. So, I then took the SSD to a separate system (Wind 7) and attached it as a secondary drive. That system would then not boot, getting an error saying there was something wrong with a hard drive in the system. Removed the drive and it booted up again fine. Looks like a bad drive? Please advise ...
