    Default Installing Pandora?

Does the Alpine even support Pandora?
Ive tried every option I can think of. No matter what, I get: 'You haven't accessed Google Play app (the white shopping bag icon) on your device with this email account.'

Also, if there is a way to 'just download the freakin app' to a key drive or SD card & then let the PBO install?

    Any thoughts?

    Nevermind. I found this:
    http://www.freewarelovers.com/androi...dora_1.5.3.apk
    Worked like a charm.

Now i just have to figure out why the audio is not working for just Pandora.

Its not just Pandora. I installed tunein radio. Everything seemed OK, I could tune in to a station, the program buffered, the progress bar progressed. but no sound came out (and when I then went to play a video I had to toggle the audio to get it to make a sound). Has anybody found a radio app that works yet?

Has I already mentioned in another post; the PBO Alpine does not use the standard android media library to provide smooth play of video and sounds. Therefore application that relies on those libraries do not work on the PBO Alpine or at best are very choppy (video or sound). The PBO Alpine uses a compile version of Mplayer which take advantage of the PBO hardware to provide smooth play. Any applications that do not actually have some type of player built-in and that relies on a video/music player already installed on the device should work. Unfortunately most application provides their own player and uses the standard android media libraries to provide playback.

Hope this clarify things a bit.

    Cheers !!!

Thanks for that, snappy46. So do you know of a radio player that will work on the PBO?

DrGreg, I do not know of any radio player that do not have a build in player. There are however some rss feed application that do rely on external application to play their video / media files that do work with the PBO Alpine. The big draw back is that you have to find the rss feed for every radio station that you want to listen to and enter it in their database. You can also use the rss feed app that comes with the second version of the matrix firmware to do that. I even created my own version of RSS feed player for the PBO Alpine but it is still in Alpha testing. I had to stop development because I got too busy with other things.

Anyhow your best bet is to look at RSS media feed players/reader; they usually relies on external application to play whatever the feeds give to them.

    Cheers !!!

Thanks snappy46. If you have the time, could you provide me with an idiot's guide to how I would set up and use an RSS media player/reader? There are, at most, only 2 radio stations that we listen to regularly, so it wouldn't be too onerous to add them.

don't know what kind of radio you're into but if you like NPR (put me on a desert island with only NPR and some coconuts i'll be ecstatic) then this installs just fine on Matrix firmware

Thanks for your post, but I live in the UK, so NPR wouldn't work for me.

OK, I have installed RSS demon, but all the feeds are empty. How to I subscribe? I have added the url for BBC radio 3, but again, it is empty, how do I get the feeds to populate?

RSS demon does not work unless you are connected using a WIFI adapter if you are connected using the Ethernet connector it will not work. As you might already have guessed not too many android devices (phone, tablet etc...) comes with an Ethernet port. Transfering data using your phone plan cost money therefore a lot of those application won't be doing any updates/download unless they detect a wireless connection.

In a nutshell you need an app that do not care how it is connected to the internet. Have you tried the RSS feed that comes with the Matrix firmware???? There might also be other apps that works but it's all a matter of trial and error. I know that about RSS demon because I already tried it and it would not update until I connected my WIFI adapter. The many issues I had with RSS feeds is the reason I started to develop my own customized for the PBO Alpine but then PM came out with their own RSS feed reader. I am not sure why this RSS feed was drop from the latest matrix release???? but you can get it on the previous release of matrix. If you prefer the stock firmware I can always extract that specific RSS app from the matrix firmware and you should be able to install it on your PBO Alpine.

    Cheers !!!
