64GB SD LX series

Put brand new SD card in Lumix ZS8 pictures taken are available and viewable in the camera but will not download to computer using either the USB cable to the camera or using a card reader. Running Windows XP which states that the card is not formatted. When attempting to format the only option is exFAT then message that it is unable to perform the format.

Any ideas what's up with this?
