    Default Pyro 120gb wont boot

I am new to the forums and this is my first post so hello
I brought a patriot pyro 120gb about 6months ago and had problems booting from it. If i made my 1tb storage drive the boot drive it would boot the PYRO but if i made the PYRO the first boot drive it would say "please insert boot device". Now im trying to do the firmware update and it wont find the device in the list thru the updater. So first question is what do i have to do so that bios will boot it as the first boot device and second why the firmware updater wont see the SSD??

You need to install windows with ONLY the SSD connected. Once windows is installed, you can install your other drives.

You will probably find the 100meg windows boot partition on your 1TB drive.

Also, if you are using the AMD drivers, it has been found to be helpful to switch back to the default microsoft drivers for the SSD update. If you have an intel board, plug the drive into one of the intel ports if it isn't there.

ok no joy. I unplugged the 1TB drive and put the PYRO to boot first and it comes up with.....

"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

Is there a certain way that these SSD's need to be installed for them to boot as a first drive?? I am willing to do a complete format to resolve this problem and get my firmware updated.

You need to remove the other drives, then reinstall windows with only the SSD connected.

Only then will the SSD boot by itself.

Could you make sure of the following:

    * Make sure you have the latest BIOS update on your motherboard
    * Make sure you have the latest SATA drivers and support SSD's
    * Make sure you have the latest Chipset drivers that support SSD's
    * Enable or switch to "AHCI mode" - in the BIOS.
    * Another SATA port off the motherboard
    * Another SATA cable or power cable
    * Re-download the firmware (possibly a bad download)
    * Make sure you disable your firewall and any other anti virus security software temporarily
    * Run the updater tool in Admin mode (right click and run as Admin)
    * If this doesn’t resolve your issue, you can uninstall your current SATA drivers now and run the generic SATA drivers provided by Windows.
