    Thumbs up [SOLVED] Trouble getting the SSD updater to detect my drive

    So I'm trying to run the updater to update the firmware to v5.02

    Problem is it's not detected.

    So, I ran CrystalDisk as per the instructions in the FAQ.

    CrystalDisk only detects the drive when I enable the following:
    Function->Advanced Feature->[Beta]Intel RAID(CSMI)->Enable (Access All Disks)

    On doing so, I get this:

    This is the only disk in my system and I'm using an X79A-GD65(8D) motherboard with an i7 3930K processor and 8GB of RAM. I have also un-installed any Intel Rapid Storage software, but the updater still refuses to detect my drive.

    The reason I want to update is because my computer has been freezing once in a while and I suspect the SSD.

    Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

    OK, I fixed it. Hope this helps someone:

    Basically, I had to click on this Fix-It link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976) (google for "Windows 7 AHCI fixit" - its the first search result).

    I then had to restart the computer and when it did, the Updater was able to find and update the firmware on the drive.
