[Help] direct connection to Javelin
Hey guys,
I just got my javelin yesterday, and it works pretty well.
I just have some issues with transfer speeds.
I'm sending stuff over via my dsl gateway, but sadly its not gigabit, so that transfer speeds max out at 14 mb/s
My network card is gigabit though.
So is there a way to connect the javelin directly to the Ethernet port on my pc without using a patch-cable?
Also, I noticed that when accessing shares from my O!play, the recylebin shows up, is there a way to hide it from the share?
Thanks for any help

To connect directly, you have to manually assign the IP addres in both the Javelin and computer. e.g. Computer 192.168.1.101 and Javelin 192.168.1.102, submask 255.255.255.0. Most the new Ethernet network card support auto cable detection, so you just plug a normal network cable between Javelin and computer.
However, when connecting computer to the Javelin like this, your computer will not connect to Internet, unless the DSL is connected to the computer using USB or another network port. It is quite messy.
Adding a wired Gigabit backbone in your home network will provide a permanent solution. 5 or 8 ports Gigabit switch is quite cheap now. On sale, 5 ports is around $15 US and 8 ports is around $25.
DSL Gateway/Router –- Gigabit switch –- Javelin and all other computers/players
This will allow the Javelin steam video to several players/computers in the same time without frame drop.
Adding the switch between DSL gateway and computers will not slow down the internet access.

Dont forget about jumbo frames. some un-managed gig switches (which is what I assumed you bought) go up to 4K Jumbo Frames. Set that in your PC NIC card and in the Javelin, it should make file transfers much faster

yeah I did that already, getting about 80-90 now
