    Question Small question

What happens when you put a drive in your Javelin? Does it format it?

I'm asking cause I have a few drives already filled with data and was hoping to simply share them on the network by putting them in the NAS.

Im guessing this wont be possible as they are in NTFS format and the Javelin will want some other file system?

    Could use some pointers,

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Yes the Javelin will need to reformat your Hard Drives before installing them into it. They need to configure the raid and change the file format.

What you can do if you have 2 hard drives is take Hard Drive 1 and reformat into the Javelin. Take Hard Drive 2 (with your important files) and transfer it over to Hard Drive 1 (which is currently installed in your Javelin). After the transfer, you can then install the Hard Drive 2 into the Javelin and depending on the type of raid used, it will recreate the raid array and include the Hard Drive 2 and you will have all your information in tact.
