Wildfire 240 Raid 0 = BSOD

I'm absolutely going nuts...

My system is running a Asus Sabertooth X58 motherboard with the latest bios 1301 and both Wildfire 240s are using the latest 3.3.2 firmware after upgrading from the original firmware.

I have the two wildfires raided together and running on AHCI mode. I've tried activating the AHCI bios and disabling it, neither help. I've tried running in IDE mode.

No matter what I do, it's a matter of time before my system BSOD and both hard drives vanish from the JMarvell Bios Table...

I leave my computers on and come back to "No valid boot device found" black screen many times not knowing when it crashed and managed to reboot itself. This a new level of frustrating...

I've never had this problem with Corsair or OCZ... Is this a faulty product? It's such a hassel to use. I dont' seem to have this problem on my third wildifre 240 thats in my Mac Book Pro.

As the SSDs on the intel controller?

It's on the SATA6 JMarell Controller at this time. My Intel Controller is full. I bought these thinking they were SATA6 SSDs and the Intel ones aren't 6.

Put them on the Intel controller ... move normal hard drives onto the Jmicron/Marvell controllers. Remove any special Jmicron/Marvell drivers you have installed and let the default msahci driver handle them.

Given that the Jmicron/Marvell controller is limited by the 1x PCIe bus, they would run slower then the Intel ports when in RAID 0, even though the intel ports are only SATA2.

This should give you the best performance, and the best chance of a stable system.

I moved it to the Intel chipset and it continues to vanish from bios. Although now not both drives vanish, just one of them. I probably need to RMA this.

Yep, the disconnections indicate some kind of software or hardware failure.

First of all, I'd try a different SATA cable, as they are a known source of problems. A secure wipe may also repair this problem. If these do not help, then RMA would be your only option.

I've been thinking it might be the SATA cable. And have no idea how to do a secure wipe. Is there a utility I can use to do this?

Paying almost $550 for one of the Wildfire 240s and close to $400 on the 2nd one after rebate, I have two rocks. I've tried upgrading, downgrading, secure wipe, different controller, external sata dock, to multiple different controllers. It still vanishes, hangs, and crashes. Is there a new firmware before I RMA these two drives? My third drive is in a Mac Book Pro purchased way before and hasn't crashed once...

BTW huge thank you canthearu for your help. But while I know this is a Sanforce 3 issue, I also know that all my corsairs that were crashing have all been fixed... My most expensive fastest patriot drives aren't... I have nothing else to say... My company was thinking of changing all our executive notebooks to SSDs with this track record, there's no way I'm going to get myself fired over the fact I can't guarantee their machines will work...
