That's strange. Let me see if I can have them contact you instead. We have your information from the original e-mail you sent us.

I would probably have to get back to you on Monday as our Taiwan office is already closed for the weekend.

    Thanks for your patience.

Angry Patriot WildFire are Not Compitable With x79 MB!

Today i took my ENTIRE PC to the distributer in ISRAEL! Here are the conclusions:

    1. we tried to install windows 7 SP1 x64 (Media Refresh x17-59465 & STD x17-24395) on a brand new GIGABYTE X79-UD5 BIOS F7 WITH i7 3820, Patriot Wildfire 120GB FW 3.2.0 and a G2 4x4GB 1600MHz CL9 RAM

Result: FAIL (Error when expanding files).
*same result after updating to BIOS F10, After SSD FW update to 3.2.2 and 5.0.1

    2. we tried to install windows 7 SP1 x64 (Media Refresh x17-59465 & STD x17-24395) on a brand new ASUS Rampage IV GENE BIOS 1103 WITH i7 3820, Patriot Wildfire 120GB FW 3.2.0 and a G2 4x4GB 1600MHz CL9 RAM

Result: FAIL (Error when expanding files).
    * Same result After SSD FW update to 3.2.2 and 5.0.1

    3. we replaced the RAM with Patriot VIPER EXTREME 4X4GB CL8 and tried to install windows 7 SP1 x64 (Media Refresh x17-59465 & STD x17-24395)

Result: FAIL (Error when expanding files).
on the Gigabyte X79-UD5 & ASUS Rampage IV GENE.

    4. WE REPLACED THE SSD to OCZ 120GB VERTEX 3.0 FW 2.15 and tried to install again on the ASUS Rampage IV GENE BIOS 1103.

Result: Install Successful - NO ERRORS!

    5. Then we tried to install again on the Gigabyte X79-UD5 BIOS F10 with the OCZ VERTEX 3.0 FW 2.15

Result: Install Successful - NO ERRORS!

    conclusion:
    - after we opened 3 new Patriot SSD WildFire 120GB units,
    - 4 brand new G2 RAM Kits,
    - and 1 VIPER EXTREME 4x4GB CL8 kit
    - 2 NEW Gigabyte X79-UD5 F7 /F10
    - 1 NEW ASUS Rampage IV GENE BIOS 1103.

PATRIOT WILDFIRE 120GB FW 3.2.0 / 3.2.2 / 5.0.1 ARE NOT!!! COMPITABLE WITH X79 MB! NOT ASUS AND NOT GIGABYTE.

DEAR PATRIOT COMPANY, AND DEAR PATRIOT_BEN:

I REALLY HOPE THAT YOU WILL FIND THE WAY TO COMPENSATE ME FOR IT.
WHEN I BUY HARDWARE FROM A SERIOUS COMPANY LIKE YOURS I EXPECT THAT YOU WILL GIVE ME THE RIGHT, TRUE AND HONEST ANSWER FOR THE QUESTION "DOES WILDFIRE SSD CAN WORK WITH X79 MB (INTEL C600 CONTROLLER).

at the end of this LAB TESTS (6 Hours!!!) i was so mad! that i didnt want to take my SSD disk back, and didnt ask the distributer for a refund.
you have my address here in israel, so i hope (really DO!) that you will find the way to send me (BY MAIL) a NEW! WORKING! X79 FW Compatible! SSD Drive! for my PC
    .

this was the worst 2 weeks of my life!

    Thank You,
    Ohad.

    Ohad,

We ran a few quick tests in our lab with GIGABYTE X79-UD5 with Windows 7 64 bit and did not have any issues with the install at all. Please see below. At this point we want to urge you to work with our Taiwan RMA team to take a look at your drive. We'll be glad to test the memory and drive of ours you have for testing.

    Here's one more image...

As you can see there are no (known) Windows 7 install issues with our 120GB Wildfire on the Gigabyte X79-UD5. We'll be glad to test the Patriot Memory and Drive(s) you have, if you want to ship them in.

    Dear patriot_ben(!)
as i said before! NO PROBLEMS WITH WINDOWS 7 X64 WITHOUT SP1
THE PROBLEM IS ONLY WHEN INSTALLING WINDOWS 7 X64 WITH SP1

AND THAT IS WHY I AM SO MAD!
BECAUSE IT SEEMS THAT NO ONE FROM PATRIOT READ THE ENTIRE THREAD.
MY FIRST MESSAGE ON THIS THREAD SPECIFICLLY TALKS ABOUT HOW BIZZAR IT IS THAT WINDOWS 7 WITHOUT SP1 CAN BE INSTALL.
BUT IF YOU INSTALL WINDOWS 7 WITH SP1 YOU CANT GET PAST THE "EXPANDING FILES" PART

HERE IS THE FIRST MESSAGE ON THIS THREAD:
    04-10-2012 12:41 AM
    so listen to this:
    i cant install windows 7 ultimate x64 sp1!
    now listen to this:
when im installing the Windows 7 x64 without SP1 i can install windows.

AND AS YOU CAN SEE IN YOUR SCREEN SHOT YOU DIDNT TRY TO INSTALL WINDOWS 7 X64 WITH SP1.

    not only that.
but in every message of mine i gave all the details + FW version of the SSD and the MB. and still you, and others from Patriot (by email) asked me what is the MB bios version that i am using? or is it the latest one? and do you know why they asked me that? because they didnt read the thread (as they should!). they even asked me if i am using the latest CHIPSET DRIVERS (I.E Intel® Chipset Device Software INF v9.2.3.1022 & Intel® Rapid Storage Technology Enterprise Driver RST v3.0.0.3020)

NOW TELL ME SOMETHING, (PLEASE), HOW CAN I "USE" THE LATEST CHIPSET DRIVERS IF I CANT EVEN INSTALL WINDOWS?

so please, try to install windows 7 x64 ultimate with SP1.
and lets see if you can get past the "EXPANDING FILES". (trust me... you cant. not even if you click "LOAD DRIVER" @ the "where do you want to install windwos" screen and choose the INTEL RST F6 PRE INSTALL V3.0.0.3020 or the v3.0.0.3012 (3012- from gigabtye web site - 3020 from intel web site)

(at a personal level i have to say that i really do appreshiate your help)

    thank you,
    Ohad.

    Default update on issue.

    Dear Patriot_Ben.

I'm sorry but i don't have the disk any more. as i wrote in previews message:
after the distributer lab failed to install windows x64 sp1 I didn't took the SSD back.
I was so disappointed from our failed lab test at the Israeli distributer lab. That i just left the SSD there.
(I couldn't use it anyway on my system so...)

All i can ask from you now is to send me a new SSD by mail.
I know that its not a standard request, but i will appreciate if the company decide to make an exception this time and send me a new drive.

personally i think that i earned it (and already paid for the SSD Drive anyway).

    Thank You,
    Ohad.

    Ohad,

Unfortunately I doubt that we'd be able to do this. Can you get the drive back from the distributor? The only thing we'd be able to do is replace the drive. As we had suggested earlier, we were going to see if we could test the drives here and try and replicate the issue.

    Dear patriot_Ben,
The SSD is at the distributer, he will ship it to you for the RMA.
(So what am i suppose to do now? wait without a disk untill the distributer will ship the drive to you? and then wait again untill you will check the isuue? its going to take weeks! what am i suppose to do without a working pc?

this is why I purchased a new OCZ SSD Vertex 3 for 220$. because I couldnt use the patriot drive on my system.)

maybe you can ask the distributer to send me a new drive. (but then again, its not going to work anyway untill a new FW that support SP1 will be out. right?)

and anyway i dont think that the drive itself is the issue. is the drive need to be replaced? is'nt the FW update should be enough? (drive is 100% OK with all other chipset, even with x79 as long you are not trying to instal the sp1 version.

I'm sure that you will be able to replicate the issue with the same hardware that you used before (like on the screenshot above) JUST TRY TO INSTAL THE SP1 VERSION OF WINDOWS. we tried to install on 3 different drives (all NEW WILDFIRE 120GB) and didnt succeeded doing so.

So i'll appreshiate if you can check if its possible to make an exception this time. I payed for the drive already anyway... maybe the company will make an exception this time.

i know that its not a standard request but maybe Patriot will see that its an excellent way to show that when something drastic happen they can compensate by doing the "extras step". especially with high end product like that one.

    thank you,
    Ohad.
