Default Need Download for Windows 98 32GB USB Patriot Red Axle

Just bought 32GB USB Drive (Patriot Red Axle) and would like to make it operate on Windows 98 as well as Windows XP. Is there a download for this? I tried to use the download for x-porter (v2.10.0.4) but it didn't work. I want to use the 32Gb flash drive to carry data back & forth from XP to 98. Thanks

    Hello,

Please refer to this link here for the drivers:
    http://www.patriotmemory.com/product...N98driver).zip

Please note that this will only work for Win 98 Second Edition as the NON SE doesn’t support USB Flash Drives.

Hi, I thank you for the link/download. However, the Windows 98 PC still doesn't recognize the 32GB Patriot Red-Axle Flash Drive. It recognizes other Flash Drives (e.g., Emprex, Kingston, Motorola). Is there anything else I can try? (I do have Windows 98 2nd edition on the PC.)

    Hello,

Hmmm... it doesn't sound like a driver's issue if it can pick up other usb devices. Can you try the Axle Drive in any other usb device to see if it will pick up? Please advise.

I had already used it on a Windows XP PC. It works fine there. I loaded 10 GB of data and wanted to be able to transfer data to the Windows 98 PC, but the Win98 PC can't detect the Axle Drive.

What is the make and model of the system with Windows 98 2nd Edition? Can you try updating the drivers from the motherboard side to see if this helps? This is usually found at the motherboard manufacturer's website under a support/download section. Please advise.

PC is Compaq Presario 7935 with Microsoft Windows Second Edition 4.10.2222A I don't know how to update drivers from the motherboard manufacturer's site. Would the motherboard also be Compaq?

Yes it should. Please try all of the applicable drivers here:

Let me know if this helps.

I'm afraid there was nothing new there to update drivers for this situation.

    Hi CatDance,

At this point, the only thing we can recommend is to contact Compaq support to see if there is a particular driver they recommend for usb 2.0 flash support. The drivers we give out are actually generic drivers that work most of the time.

Can you verify if the other known working drives are USB 1.0 or USB 2.0? Our Axle is rated as USB 2.0.

Otherwise another option we can try is to try and replace the drive under warranty to see if another drive will work.

    It's quite strange:
-That this drive will work on your XP system but not on this system. (this tells us that the drive may not be the issue) .
-Other drives work on your Win 98 System but not this drive (this However, could state that it is the drive itself).
