Firmware Update Help Requested

I have had 2 boxes for quite awhile. Some time ago, I downloaded & updated firmware on one of them. To be safe, I left the other as is. The updated shows System Rev POO20BC18-61, Kernal Rev 323634. Bootup as 27 and Bootcode ends in 27.

My problem: Try as I might, I now can't seem to get the second box to match the first, even tho I was sure I used the same file to update. The Bootup shows 18 and bootcode ends in 18 even tho System revision & kernal revision are the same.

I believe I have tried all the various firmware files available, but maybe I am missing something here. Can someone offer some insight, maybe even to typing out which file I should download?

Firmware update do not change your bootcode; changing your bootcode requires the use of a Serial to TTL cable (nokia CA42 works well). Currently you have one box that has bootcode 27 and another one that has bootcode 18. If everything works fine with your current hardware then it's not much of an issues. I updated my bootcode to 18 from 16 almost 2 years ago and never bothered with the other bootcode updates since my PBO works fine with my other hardwares (HDD, TV etc....) with bootcode 18.

Thank you for the information. I had suspected as much but wanted to confirm. I have also posted another question on whether there is a method to get from boot 16 to 18 because I have another box with that that has just been kind of sitting around. Wouldn't mind knowing how you got from 16 to 18. (or is that a hardware thing?) Thanks!

I have the exact same model as the one mentioned above. Could you kindly assist me in how I would go about updating the firmware? I know how to do the update itself. I just am not entirely sure as to which firmware to select.

If you have bootcode 16 - use firmware only designated for 16. P61 is the latest for this.

If you have bootcode 18 - you can use any firmware designated for 18+. P70R2 is the latest for this.

If you press stop + pause at the home screen it should tell you which bootcode you have.
