    Default Div 2 Viper Extreme ( PXD38G1866ELK ) on ASRock Z68 Pro3

Hello from Germany (in case of language-related errors, now you know why )

I have Problems using the xmp-settings on said MoBo... in general, i am not sure if i have to "activate" the xmp-profile in the uefi to be able to use it, but as far as google got me til now, that is what i have to do, else i just run my ram at ddr3-1333.

so i entered uefi, opened ddr3-configuration and changed the xmp-profile from "AUTO" to "Profile 1", after the ram shown in the uefi changed from DDR3-1333 to DDR3-1866.

mission accomplished... is what i thought...

when my system rebooted, following error occured:

    http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images...ueblueblue.png
(i just post the link this way since the picture is quite big...

i changed it back to the profile "AUTO" and reboot worked... tried to figure out what BAD_POOL_CALLER was, but only when i change the profile the bluescreen occured when booting, so i blame the ram (and the profile). do i have to change some settings in this preset profile? if i had to, the whole idea of xmp would be useless, at least as far as i figured out what xmp should do.

the used ram even is listed in the memory support list of my MoBo, ( a reason why i chose this ram) this even makes this error more irritating to me

ASRock Z68 Pro3 memory support list

I really would like to get more than the DDR3-1333 out of my DDR3-1866 ram sticks, even if it is not even that noticable

    My System:

    motherboard: ASRock Z68 Pro3
    CPU: I5 2500k
    Graphic: Geforce gtx 570
and i would like to have 4 x 4GB of said Division 2 Viper Extreme as 1866 and not 1333

i hope you guys can help me, or show me some alternatives (like manual settings, which i still would like to avoid), or just tell me what i did wrong.

    thanks in advance!

What bios version are you on? Can you try flashing the board to the latest bios?

Let me know if this helps.

i now updated my bios from 1.10 to 1.60, but still got the bluescreen after changing to xmp "profile 1". i attach some pictures of my uefi to show you my settings, maybe you notice something wrong.

    when i select profile 1: (=> DDR3-1866)

    my possible selections:

    my "default": (=> DDR3-1333)

what says 1866 here would say 1333 when i am on profile AUTO

i hope i don't embarrass myself by posting way too obvious information, but i hope that any information could help!

No not at all. The more you post, the easier it is for us to assist you.

Can you try manually setting up the timings? Change only the memory frequency to DDR 1866 and the latencies to 9-11-9-27. Set Dram voltage to 1.65v. Try also locating the VSA (system agent voltage and set this to 1.40v. Let me know if this helps.

If it does not, try seeing if each stick will work. It sounds like it could be one bad stick. Please advise.

bluescreen with manual settings, did not find vsa (only vccsa, which did not go up to 1.4v anyway).

tomorrow i will test each stick. should i test them at 1866? should i test them dual or singleslot-wise?

if there are any tips or advices on how to test them (without a night of memtest for each stick please ), i will read them when i woke up.

    thanks so far!

    Hello,

Please try them at singles at 1866 (XMP enabled is fine). This test will isolate whether it's a bad stick or not. This seems to be the case. If it is, we'll be glad to exchange the memory for you.

I now tested them each single, at 1866, not one of them is broken, but two of them gave me bluescreens.

the remaining stick i now used dualchannel-wise, and let run memtest for about 4hrs. (4 passes, 0 errors), those seem to be fine.

If it is, we'll be glad to exchange the memory for you.
should i contact the webshop i bought the kit at, or can patriot take care of this now?

thanks a lot for your help!

    Hi, its me again,

I just wanted to let you know that everything is fine now.

I sent the bad RAM-Kit back, got my money back (shop did not have any kits left in stock), and ordered a kit from a different webshop.

They came in today, i singletested them, them memtested them (dual), and after no errors i now have them installed with the other two fine sticks, and finally have my system with all 4 RAMsticks at 1866 running without bluescreen!

Thanks Ben, for your help, and mostly for giving the confidence in "you should do that". There was nothing hard or professional-only to do, but i (and probalby many other user too) struggle with themselfes when it comes to hardwaretesting

    So again, thanks a lot!
