Default Cannot play xvid avi's properly

    Hi,
Just received my Patriot Box office (2nd hand) but it will not play my Xvid Avi's?

They have big green pixels all over the screen.

Any ideas why or what I need to do to ensure these play properly.

    Regards

    Dan

Have you tested on your Windows PC with Windows Media Player Home Cinema?
I have same problem with some xvid video files on the PC: incomplete downloaded video files. I see pixeled green screen.

    Hi Slan,
Yes, they work fine on my PC but wanted this media box to be able to view them in another room.

Are you playing those file through the network or USB medium (Stick / Hard drive) connected to your PBO??? It is possible that a slow transfer speed from the network cause the stutters/pixelation problem. If you are playing thru network try to play the same file with a USB medium and see if problem persist.

    Cheers !!!

Ok then; are you using an official firmware ???? Some of the unofficial firmware sometimes have services running that require some resources (CPU Cycle) that can prevent prevent proper decoding of certain video codec. Any torrent client running on your PBO or other services???

Can you confirm which firmware you are currently running and the video codec of that video; avi is only a video container which can contain pretty much any type of video codec.

    Snappy

EDIT: Never mind about the codec .... I just realized that is it xvid.

Personnaly since you do not have the latest firmware (You have P61) I would try to flash the latest firmware (P70R2); and see if this resolves your issue.
