Internally Javelin use a Promise Raid controller. The format drive as single LVM partition anda create Volumes using XFS file system. If you think to use a external drive, plugged into USB connector, with NTFS partition I think Javelin will recognize this drive, HFS is supported linux as read-only file system, I don't thin Javelin will recognize this file system.
