Is it one of the new models of PBO? How come the firmware version is V4.0.4?

Well this is obviously a used item since the PBO does not come with such firmware number. I believe you have a medebo firmware which is a modded firmware from another manufacturer and it does not provide online video streaming. Some of the latest Patriot firmware (official / semi-official) however do provide such capability. I recommend that you flash one of those firmware on your player to have online streaming capability. Just be aware that some of the firmware requires you to have at least bootcode 18 or above to be installed so make sure that your bootcode is at least 18.

    Cheers !!!

The pbo is new but was advertised as "opened to install the latest custom firmware" but didn't explain what it does. It came with a flash drive with factory firmware inside the box.
The bootloader says 0000.0202.0027 I don't see anything about a boot code though.
I don't know where to begin. Which mods do what? Is there a link or a sticky for this?
Don't want to brick this pbo. thanks

You have bootcode 27 so you are ok for any firmware. Your firmware should also be indicated on the screen you got the bootcode from (stop then pause at home screen). You can look here for official/semi-official/custom firmware; look at the firmware tab on top. I think you will find that you have the medebo custom firmware installed since this is the only one that matches the version number that you mentioned.

    Cheers !!!

I got my info. from the system info. page. Pressing stop then pause does not do anything in the home page , So I cannot check the bootcode. I will looking into the link you provided. Thank you.

Stop then Pause does not do anything because you do not have a Patriot memory firmware on your player. According to the information you have provided you do have bootcode 27.

Shizzlers modded version has been slightly modified to provide some enhanced functionality. By the way neither of those 2 firmware will provide you with online streaming capabilities. As I mentioned before you need a patriot or ACRBO firmware to have that capability.

I was excited when I first saw this thread and thought the Android based players are available. :-(
Indeed, I am using my Android tablet (modded from Nook Color) for IMS streaming right now. Many of the IMS sites I am using on PBO (with Chinese Universal Firmware) have apps available for Android. I imagine the new PBO Android will be compatible with those apps and have streaming contents available without any modification.
