I don't think so. It does not play DVD video from USB DVD reader either. PBO is a like a linux box. It would not play DVD or Blu-Ray video without a software interface just as in a PC.

It does play DVD from an external USB DVD player. I use it at home for kids DVD without problems. However, I don't know if the firmware has the capability to play Blu-Ray discs.
Edit: The latest firmware has Blu-Ray ISO support. Still don't know about external player.

I don't think it plays any commerical DVD with protection. Home video (or ripped DVD) are fine. So which one are you playing at home for kids. ;-)
