Default Inferno 120GB Firmware 3.6.3 Update

I am trying to update the firmware on my inferno with the v3.6.3 and I cannot get the ssdupdate_1.21.EXE to recognize my drive. I have verified that it is a PIXXXGS25SSD-XXX7DXXXX drive. I have tried on multiple systems as both host and slave drive in both AHCI and compatible modes. No matter what I do, the software cannot detect the drive. The software managed to detect sandforce drives from competing manufacturers on one of my systems, but I cannot get any to detect the inferno. What can I do to get this to work?

    Hello,

What is the make and model of your system?

Can you try different sata ports? If you have the AHCI drivers installed, try uninstalling it and using the native Windows one.

Also, if you have any active firewall or anti-virus try temporarily uninstalling it for the flash.

a laptop with ICH8M controller on a 32bit win7 sp1 fresh install with both stock and intel driver on the only available sata port. both ahci and compatibility mode in the bios.

an amd 890fx/sb850 on both 32bit and 64 bit win7sp1 fresh installs with both stock and amd driver on all 6 sata ports.

an amd 990fx/sb950 on both 32bit and 64 bit win7sp1 fresh installs with both stock and amd driver on all 6 sata ports.

also tried a usb enclosure with no luck.

on both the amd systems, the update tool found the ocz vertex 3 that is the main drive for those systems, but not the inferno. I removed the vertex3 from each system and tried with only the inferno installed, but the drive still would not be found.

No matter what I have tried, the inferno will not be found.

    Hello rkozola,

Did you look into see if there was any active firewalls up? How is the performance on the drive?

Were you experiencing any issues with the drive? When opening the tool, try right-click and run as admin.

I too am having this problem with the same drive. My BIOS is set to AHCI and every other tool I throw at it can detect my drive...except the one in the firmware update.

    What motherboard do you have?

Can you try using the native Windows drivers? To do so, try the following:
    1. Click Start
    2. In the Start menu, type Device Manager, hit Enter
    3. Click "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers"
    4. AMD SATA Controller, right click and click "Properties"
    5. Go to the "Driver" tab
    6. Click "Update Driver"
    7. Click "Browse my Computer"
    8. Click "Let me pick"
    9. You will see the option to choose "Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial ATA Controller", click this and click "Next" and let it install
    10. Then reboot and install the new firmware for your drive.

Let me know if it helps.
