Hey guys,
so I recently got the patriot 120GB wildfire for my macbook pro. The SSD I have stil has the 3.19 firmware, so I'm trying to update the firmware before I put it into my macbook.
So since I can't update the firmware on mac osx, I got a caddy (icybox) and put the wildfire in there and tried to use my friend's windows laptop to update the firmware.
Unfortunately, when I ran the updater on my friend's windows laptop, it didn't find the SSD, which I'd connected via usb-caddy to the laptop.
i then tried again on a different friend's laptop, but that didn't work either.
So I googled a bit and seem to have found out that in order to update the firmware on the wildfire you have to have it installed as an internal drive, you cannot update it if it is in an external caddy...
is this true? is there a way for me to update the firmware some other way?
Any help would be appreciated![]()

esata plugs aren't very common right? or is there a way around that, for example by using an adapter or something? thanks for the help so far!
