    Unhappy Cannot Access Admin through Browser or Dashboard

    I can seem to get into the administration pages of my Javelin S4. I can see it on the network (have the IP) and can even access the shares. However, when I go to it with the web browser (Firefox or IE) it just clocks and never connects. Same problem with the dashboard utility, just clocks trying to connect. Everything can see it just can't connect. I've powered it several times, done the short reset (1 beep) and the hard reset (2 Beeps) using the reset button to no avail. I've tried connecting to it from 4 different computers on the network, so it is not a firewall issue.

    Anyone have any ideas on how to reconnect to this thing? Let me know if you need additional details.

    I have seen this when the web server is configured and some bad files have been uploaded into /www share. Try connecting to http://IP.Address.Of.Javelin/admin and see if it lets you in.

    Post No Luck with IP/admin

    Gave that a try, no luck. When I reset it with the long reset (2 beeps) I can see it with the Dashboard tool initially but when I connect it complains that the IP isn't configured properly. It lets me walk through the setup wizard, I can set the DHCP, etc. However, after that it drops off the radar again.

    For testing, power the machine off, and pull the drives. Boot it up and see if you can get into the interface. Dont try setting its IP address, login to your router and get its current ip, or try http://s4/ and see if that works.

    Post No Luck Pulling Drives and Booting

    Pulled all of the drives out and booted, system remains unresponsive. The only difference is that with no drives or 1 drive the working indicator remains constantly red whereas when I load all of the drives back in the working indicator eventually becomes blue. I'm still getting the network indicator flashing with activity, and the drive indicators are blue with the activity indicators flashing periodically. It is like the unit is happen when fully loaded (like the last time it worked), but we just can't see it anymore other than that one time after a two-beep reset.

    Can I PuTTY or telnet into this thing on any port to look around?

    I have the same problem!
    I buyed S4 Javelin and 4 x 2TB HDs, and made a RAID 5 with them.
    Afer a week without power down, Javelin didn't repond, all share was dead.
    I made a power down, and after a few minutes, made a power up without error in led, But, I cant access the Javelin content and the web interface. I allways can ping the Javelin IP.

    I tried:

    1) Reboot with/out the HDs;
    2) Soft Reset, Hard Reset;

    I run a portscan over Javelin IP, the port 80/tcp didn't respond, but 443/tcp is alive. I tried to use Javelin Windows Client, to connect over port 443, but, no response.

    The NFS and SMB port are still alive too, I can open a tcp connection, but no response.

    So I thinked the firmware was corrupted, so I put Javelin in the Safe Mode, now I can open the web interface to upload the firmare, I tried to upload S4_06272011.zip and S4_06272011.upg files, avaliable from the Dowload section of Patriot Support, but the Javelin Web interface return "Invalid Upgrade File!". I used some browser, and a Mac to upload this files. I think this file doesnt work with S4 Javelin retail, someone made a upgrade using this file?

    Regards
    Sandro

    I have the same problem with a brand new Javelin. I haven't been able to get to admin using Dashboard or browser. I have been able to use Dashboard to set the ip address, but that's it. I would like to know how you put the Javelin into 'safe mode'.

    Thanks.

    I wanted to bump this topic. I just recently started having a similar problem. Has anyone made any headway in resolving this issue?

    I think that the firmware gets corrupted on these devices and there isn't a low level firmware restore unfortunately, hopefully Patriot will put that in with the next firmware revision. I think your only choice is to submit a support ticket
