    Question Patriot and Z68

    I was wondering is it possible to lover voltage and timings of PX538G2000ELK,on Msi Z68A-GD65 G3 or Z68A-GD80 G3 with i5 2500k (for example 1.5v ,8-10-8-24,1600mhz or 1800mhz),and will utilize a 2 of these kits?

    Hello,

    You can use the PX538G2000ELK on the Z68 but you'll most likely need to relax the frequency since the Z68 does not have a native 2000 strap. This memory requires 1.65v (per kit), if you're opting to run it at 1.50v I'm guessing it might work at 1600 9-9-9. With the additional load, it might not be enough voltage to do any kind of substantial overclocking.

    Thanks for a reply ,when i wanted to order that kit i wasn`t available ,so i ordered 2 x kit of 2x4gb or PXD38G2133C11K which is not listed on your site,which is rather curious.
    I will use them on one of these two mobo`s not yet decided which one,and if i can pull 1600mhz on 1.50v with 9-9-9 or 8-8-8,i will be more than satisfied.
    .... two more things, is a pcb of the rams black,and what manufacturer is making chips on them?

    Hello,

    The pcb on the modules can be both green or black. Unfortunately we cannot reveal what chips they are.

    is there any difference in built quality except difference in colors?
    Cause I heard black pcb is of better quality,sounded strange,but had to ask.

    Yes, that is correct. We use both green and black pcb for this. I haven't heard anything about black pcb being better. However, we do test all PXD38G2133C11K at the rated speeds using Intel P67 and Z68 motherboards.
