set btpd to download only one file at a time?
If several torrents are in active queue, can btpd be set to download only one file at a time?
-
Yes go thru the settings on the web interface and set the max number of torrent download to 1. Once that torrent is done it will automatically start the next one.
I am guessing that transmission did not work so well for you.
Cheers !!!

Eventually, one would give up on the btpd.

Transmission is working OK, but I'm bothered by its really erratic download speeds, which I didn't experience with btpd. From what I've read, that's a common concern with Transmission. My problems with btpd were primarily with simultaneous downloads - if I can change the download settings, it may be faster. I'm in experimenting mode right now - we'll see...
Thanks for the advice - I'll re-activate btpd and see what happens with new settings. Who knows? I may be back to Transmission in a flash!

So far, btpd is kicking Transmission's butt in terms of speed, and changing btpd's setting to just one active download at a time is making it a lot more stable. I like Transmission's GUI a LOT better, but ultimately, I'm looking at the bottom line (time).

To me neither one is stable on PBO, however, I have not tried again after I upgraded my home network. Beisdes PBO, I have 2 routers and one NAS that can do bt directly, but I prefer to use utorrent on my laptop. Besides stability issue, I worry about overheating the PBO particularly with an HDD installed inside as I had to leave it run for days to download a TV series or HD movies.
