Default No audio or hdmi video signals

I just bought two media players and set one up in my room on an old rca tv and it works great. i switched it to the kitchen philips tv and and none of the files have sound. then switched to the 52' rca rear projection tv with dvi and still no sound and no hdmi video at all. i updated the firmware to p70r2 and the sound worked. shut it off over night and turned on in the morning and no audio again. I changed all settings and tried resting and everything I can think of. Problem is the same with both media players, works great on the old rca tv but not on the philips tv or the big rca tv. I have hooked the audio jacks up to my reciever and just speakers and nothing. I changed the firmware to 3 of the most recent releases and still nothing, but both work on old rca tv????

Its an HDMI problem, I would try replacing all used cables, and also try to test the box on another HDTV.
If the problem persists you might have a lemon.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

Not only the HDMI cable, try different HDMI port too. I got a new cable and it gave no sound with noisy video signal from PBO. I almost thrown away the cable. Then I try it on a different HDMI port on the same TV, it works perfectly. The funny thing is, the new cable is supposed to be a much better quality one than my old cable, but my old cable (cost $1) works on all 3 HDMI ports on my TV.

I hooked it up to another tv with hdmi and it worked fine but my tv doesn't have an hdmi input only dvi. I have a cable thats hdmi to dvi and a little adapter with a few hdmi cables and none of them will work, I set all the options to hdmi before plugging it in and tried pushing the "TV system" button a million times. I usually have the cable running threw the dvi on the tv, so i know its working. The media player doesn't even flash or anything on the tv it's just all black. I figured out the audio problem i had the power cables mixed up with the hard drive, I fried my 1tb hard drive putting the wrong one in it :'( oops

HDMI-DVI adapter would not carry audio signal. In addition, HDMI signal may or may not be converted to DVI signal through the adapter. Some DVI output can be converted to HDMI though. Older graphic interfaces with DVI port cannot be adapted to HDMI. The connection between HDMI and DVI is not simple wiring but require compatible hardware. Did you check the resolution of your DVI input? I know some TV has lower maximal resolution input on DVI port. Perhaps it is not in the same setting as on your HDMI set up. You may need to set the HDMI output on PBO manually as the automatic detection may not work well through the DVI port.
On the other hand, the PBO power adapter should be interchangeable with most external hard drives that use 12V 1.5A-2A DC adapter. It should not fire your hard drive. I did that all the time.

the signal from the cable box is hdmi so i figured the media player would work too and the adapter and cable work from that. The power supply that fried my hdd wasnt from the pbo it was a 30v 500ma ac adapter, the hard drive started frying like bacon as soon as i turned it on

Well. Try to set the HDMI manually to 480p first to see whether it shows up on your TV.
