Default How to update firmware on a mac?

Im using mac os x lion with the patriot pyro 60gb and want to update my firmware to 3.3.0 when it comes out due to random freezing issues. How would i go about doing this? (first time I've owned an ssd)

    thanks,
    allan

    Hi Allan,

Due to the structure of the firmware it will have to be done in a Windows environment. Do you know anyone with Windows that you can update your drive on? If you do not we can assist you by having your drive sent to us and we can update the drive for you.

I have a windows laptop and tried to insert the ssd into that, then install windows after formatting the drive. the install went smoothly until it forced me to restart... i get a black screen straight after the bios screen? then i am unable to do anything else. ill try again though just to be sure i didn't do anything wrong. also am i able to get the firmware 3.3.0 off you?

That is strange that you are unable to complete Windows install. Can you try it again and I will PM you with FW 3.3.0

i tried it again, seems to be a problem with my laptop. it doesnt boot all the time but eventually if i keep switching off the power it will boot windows 7 in about 10 seconds . i dont plan on keeping the ssd in this computer so i guess it doesnt matter.

all is good now, thanks for your help

What chipset is your laptop? In BIOS is the sata mode on AHCI? You also might need to check for BIOS update for the motherboard as it might be outdated.

So your MBP is working with the updated drivers? You are not running into any issues?

i transferred the drive to my mac mini straight away and so im not sure if there would be any issues with the drive in my laptop. in the mac mini i have not experienced any issues at all and even seen a speed increase of about 30MB/s. very happy with this new update
