Default Rage XT 16 in USB 3.0 = BSOD & not recognized

    Hi,
Bought the Rage XT 16gig USB flash drive and I'm having issues.
Plugged it in at work into a USB 2.0 socket and copied over 10 gig of files (none of them very big). Took drive home and plugged it into a USB 3.0 socket - Win 7 popped up a 'installing drivers' dialogue, then a few seconds later it crashed with a Blue Screen Of Death.

    uh oh.

Plugging the Rage into any USB socket on my home PC makes Win7 do the 'Ba-Dum' noise it does to denote a USB device plugged in, but the drive doesn't show up in Windows Explorer.

The Home PC's USB still works as I'm using a USB wireless N adapter.

I bought the drive into work again today and it's fine on the PC here. I've just formatted it using your tool and will plug in again this evening to see what's what. Any suggestions on what to do if it isn't recognized? (as I'm expecting it not to be)

    Hello,

USB Flash Drives are pretty much a plug n play product.

If you have the latest usb/chipset drivers and the format tool STILL does not work we would recommend getting a replacement under warranty...

    ok... so:
    formatted drive using tool
    got home.
checked the device manager for any strange issues and saw the "Universal Serial Buss (USB) controller" was broken (yellow triangle with ! inside). "Code 28"

    google!

    found this page:
    http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...ms.html?filter
did the first bit, about showing hidden devices. went back to the device manager and found under the usb list 'patriot' was greyed out. I uninstalled that.
At this point Win 7 popped up a help box offering me advice on how to fix my broken driver issue and it popped up a box detailing I needed to reinstall the latest NEC USB3 drivers. Did so. rebooted.

    ALL IS WELL AND WORKING!!!!
    YAYAYAY!1!
