Unhappy will not show main menu

The PBO was working fine but it lost all network connectivity via the wired lan.
So I did a factory reset. Now when you turn it on it Displays "Patriot box office" but that disappears and the gui never comes - !!! You can power it off and on with the remote but the gui never comes up anymore - it was using bootcode 16 with the latest
fw- It has been working perfectly except today.
Is there a way to force a fw update in ? It never gets an ip either and since you can't see the gui you can't change anything.

On some firmware the factory reset brings the brightness down to a minimum where you can see the screen anymore. I am guessing that this is probably your problem.

See this link for solution: http://www.patriotmemory.com/forums/...1538#post31538

If not and you can telnet to your PBO you can issue this command to force a firmware update:

    Code:
    # kill -6 1
Make sure you have a USB stick with a firmware image inserted in the USB port when you issue this command.

    Cheers !!!

Without an IP address, I don't think he can telnet to it.

It sound like the firmware corruption that I had experienced on several PBO boxes recently. You may need to do a serial recovery.

You are assuming that he does not have an IP address; just like I am assuming that maybe after the factory reset the network connectivity might be ok.

unfortunately it doesn't get an ip address so telnet is not possible. The funny thing is when you first turn it on with composite video it clearly displays Box Office. then after about 3-5 seconds screen kinda corrupts and just is black

Well if it is not the brightness problem and that firmware is in fact corrupted and you can not telnet then you can get yourself a serial cable to recover or try using the SW3 switch short out method to try to force a firmware update.

Can seem to be able to find the thread about shorting out sw3 right now.

I was not assuming. He said in the last line of the OP.

You are right I stand corrected; I guess I will have to blame this on the fact that I am French and can not read English very good.....
