Default Drives not recognized, blinking red, then solid green, then red again

Hi there, I just moved across the country and unpacked my NAS... now it doesn't work.

The static IP stayed the same, I can log into it, but no drives are recognized.

They are / were in a Raid 1, the chances of both disks taking a dump during the shipping is pretty unlikely I figure.

Neither drive is visible when looking at admin_disk.cgi

when I boot it up both disks blink red for 15 or 20 seconds, then they go orange for one or two seconds, then they go solid green for 10 seconds or so... then it repeats.

I've tried one disk at a time, the empty bay blinks red constantly, the bay with the drive it does the same red then orange then green.

Swapping the drives around in the bays also has the same end result, blinking read, then it goes to green.

Any suggestions? I hope my data isn't pooched

The backplane may have been damaged if it was shipped with the drives in it. Try removing both drives and examining the backplane -> motherboard connector. If there is a crack in the PCB, its broken. If this is the case, i have a few spares and can ship a backplane to ya for the cost of a post box.

But they have, on occasion, bribed me with hardware.

Just pulled the thing apart and inspected for physical damage... found none. Either to the main board or the backplane. Reseated everything and tried again same results.

It recognizes the drive because when I power it on with no drives it immediately starts blinking red, when I power it up with disk in it blinks orange for several seconds, then goes to green, then starts blinking red and repeats the cycle.

I've swapped drive locations, I've tried one drive at a time, and I always get the same result.

I don't have another sata drive laying around right now to test with unfortunately... Im going to scrounge in my parts bin to see if maybe I have an old one though

    Hmmm... crap!

A laptop drive I had laying around is immediately accessible via the NAS.

These drives weren't striped they were mirrored, they should be able to function independently, as well as a pair... right?

I was frankly hoping for a simple enclosure hardware problem

My laptop drive was also killed during this move (dropped my laptop!) and my only backups are on these two mirrored drives that appear to be dead.
