Multiple reformats of 8GB Patriot Flash drive

Hi. I received the formatting tool and have run it several times on my new Patriot 8GB flash drive. But when I try to copy to it, I get a few files copied over and suddenly it stops because the flash drive has become write protected.

Just ran the formatting tool again and now I get a message that says "Device info block is corrupted, please return via RMA."

Any alternatives besides returning the drive? Thinking of taking a hammer to it, and never purchasing Patriot products again. sheesh.

Unfortunately the low level format is not a guaranteed fix. Because it is a deep format, we don't recommend running it too often.

What is the original issue of the drive? If the format is being applied to fix the drive, then the only solution at this point would be to open a warranty case.
