Question Can't use Goto, CM-Skip, or fast forward more than x2 while watching movie

Since I got the PBO a few weeks ago, the wife and I watch mostly our TV shows on it. Fast-forward works fine up to x8, CM-skip gets forgotten (still adapting) but works when used. Had a corrupt file yesterday that kept stopping the play so I'd used the Goto to pick up just after it had quit. Laborious but it got me through.

Last night, we decided to watch a movie that I'd backed up as an AVI ages ago. Popped it in my DVD drive and copied the file over the network to the PBO's HD. {Play} The movie plays fine but, at one point, I went to Pause and hit Stop by accident. No problem, I'll just use the Goto that I used so much recently. Nope, gives the "Do Not Enter" sign. Same with CM-skip. Fast forward won't allow me to go more than x2 speed so to get back to the 80 min mark in our movie takes 40 minutes!!!

Oh, it also does not offer to Resume Playback.

I even tried moving the file from the "Movie" folder over to "TV". I didn't expect it to matter...and it didn't.

The AVI in question is 894MB. I thought maybe it had to do with file size but I've got other movies of 650, 700, and 900 MB that are playing just fine.

Which firmware are you using ? make sure you are on the latest (P70R2).
Might want to pass the file through "MediaInfo" (google for download links) and post the output here.
    Best of luck,
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

I have the same problem, on my two PBO's, latest firmware... if you try to go back or forward faster then 1.5 or 2 it spends so much energy trying to play faster that it is not checking the IR input often enough. It runs away. Sometimes pressing Pause twice will stop it at a random spot and Play then works.

This has happened on both PBO's over various releases since new. Both are USB Wifi attached. I will hard wire and try the same actions on the same movie and report back. If my theory is correct, hard wired PBO's may be able to keep up the throughput and check the IR input more often.

As a programmer my guess is that in the fast speed logic they bypass checking the IR once they find they cannot display smoothly at the requested speed. They should instead fall back to some arbitrary sustainable speed and check the IR input frequently.

Other than that.... loving them! Got another friend converted this past weekend.
