Default Problems with new Supersonic PEF64GSUSB

    Hello from Russia!

I bought a Patriot Supersonic 64GB USB drive around a month ago. It worked beautifully. However a few days ago when I plugged it into my PC the red light on it that normally flashes when it's being accessed just stayed red and everything stopped working. When trying to access it is completely empty and when examining the properties through my computer (I uses XP SP2) it shows up as having a size of 0MB. Windows assigns a drive letter (G:\), but when I go to access the device I receive an error msg "please insert a disk". Looking at the device in Disk Management I see no partition/volume. Can I correct this problem without returning the device to the Retailer? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks very much!!

I have the same USB stick. Have you tried the USB stick on other PC?
This normally caused by ejecting the USB stick while it is still running (copying/reading file, antivirus background scanning).

    Roman_72,

Can you send an e-mail to support@patriotmem.com? We'll send you a format tool that might be able to help with your issue.

    Hi, Patriot_Ben

I got a format tool that I asked for, thank you. Special thanks to Patriot Support, who took the trouble to send me this format tool is in the e-mail. I applied the format tools and the problem has been solved - the Patriot Supersonic has worked perfectly.

But remained a drawback. When I plug the my device into the USB port, it is defined in device manager as a standard device (USB DISK 2.0 USB Device), whereas previously determined by the Patriot device. Do you have a special program which fix this?

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello,

What is the make and model of your notebook? Double-check that it supports USB 3.0.

Try updating the usb drivers for your platform (especially the USB 3.0). To do so, go to your system manufacturer's website and look under a support or download section and install the USB 3.0 and/or Chipset drivers. Let me know if this resolves your issue.

How is the performance on the drive?

Can you try testing with ATTO...?

    Hi there,

as i was unable to get a reply via email, im trying to get it via forum. What follows is a copy of the email ive sent to the above email address.

I have exactly same problem like the user that reported his instance in this thread [THIS THREAD].

You've sent him the correct reformatting tool. Can I please also have it? I tried going through the patriotmem.com website to download the tool, but all the tools i downloaded do not recognize the USB stick plugged in.

    My problem in detail:
    Patriot Supersonic 64GB USB3
Stick was working 100% correctly until during a copy operation it stopped suddenly and (while physically plugged into the USB2 socket), it appeared as unrecognized hardware in MyComputer. When i double clicked it, it said "Please insert disc.." so it was inaccessible, and even when i tried to format it it said that no device is connected thus can not be formatted. I guess ill need to format it, but i heard that in some instances the format doesnt work on USB2 a the device is not recognized.

    Hi

    thanks for the link.

    that didnt work.

"Select a partition that you want to format" shows:
    [ (G] u~{˘eRVž.................................
(those dots just suplement more random cyrilic characters that show up in the box)

I was able to test the stick on USB3.0 socket. Not recognized at all. Meaning, when the utility is ran on computer with working USB3 socket (tested with other sticks), it shows empty dropdowns (not recognized?).

INFO on how the crash happened:
I was downloading multiple torrents to the stick. That means multiple fast writes of relatively small size to different sectors of the memory. I also am aware that the memory has issues with fast writes of small files. But i wouldnt expect that to totally fry it. Anyways the torrents worked pretty well for about 4 hours or so. Then it appeared that device is randomly unplugging, but only on software level (physically i had it still connected to USB socket). I also noticed its slightly overheating. At that point i started unplugging it and plugging it back to USB socket manually. It always worked for few minutes, then the disconnect, and had to physically replug-in. Those intervals were shortening, and later USB stopped appearing accessible completely in the explorer. Other computers at this point had problems with this device showing up/being recognized at all.

Hope the above explanation helps to make the product line more bug-free in the future.

    Im getting a replacement soon.

    Best regards,

Thank you for the feedback. Did you need assistance in getting your replacement? Or were you handling this with the reseller?
