making .mkv

I ripped two movies from the dvd and make it to .mkv using mkvmerge but what happened is that the movie plays and after 25minutes it stops so i tried using makemkv 1.6.7 and made mkv file and it plays fine. Is it my mediplayer issue or the mkvmerge issue? I really like mkvmerge because it has dolbydigital 6chanell does any of you had this issue? If you guys have any other software that you can recommend that would be great.

I have found this to be the best software for manipulating (changing formats) video files. Since I've become familiar with it, I have not made a single file that won't play.

I use the CLI version in Linux, but I think there is a version for Windows. I also think that the windows program Super may have ffmpeg integrated into it.

Make sure you disable Header Compression in MKVMerge, this causes problems with playback on the PBO and other media players.

To do this:

1. Select each track
2. Select the Extra Options tab
3. Set the Compression option to "none"
4. Start muxing
