I utilized CPUID's CPU-Z ver. 1.57. I am having quite the problem in getting this memory to post at its stated speed.

Hello,

Do you have the latest bios installed? If not, please flash to it.

Try increasing the QPI voltage to 1.40v, and the cpu voltage to 1.30-1.35v.

Another key change is setting trfc to 110 or higher.

I updated the bios to the new version and set the bios to its "default" level as advised by EVGA.

Now it appears that CPU-Z has the memory running at RAM Speed : 928.7 MHz (2:14) @ 11-12-12-31

RAM : 12288 MB DDR3 Triple Channel

I tried to use the settings given for my memory of 9-11-9-27 to no effect!

Isn't 1.4v outside of intel's specs? I have the 6GB memory kit, and I'm also struggling to get it to run at 2000Mhz.

I'm quite pleased with the kit. It chugs along no problem at 1824Mhz, with 8-8-8-24 timings with a QPI voltage of 1.275.

However, I want it to run at 2000Mhz to allow a CPU overclock of 4Ghz on my i7-960.

I've raised my QPI up to 1.35, and the system posts, but won't boot.

If I enable the XMP profile, it raises QPI voltage to 1.6! I haven't tried booting at that setting.

Even with really loose timings, and my CPU multiplier turned way down, I can't get this kit to boot at 2000Mhz.

Is the only way to proceed to increase QPI outside of intel's specs? I've read warnings that increasing QPI voltage over 1.35 can damage the memory controller on my chip.

*FYI - Mobo is a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R Rev. 2

Yes, DDR3-2000 was definitely an Extreme Performance item on the X58 platforms. It all depends on the strength of your particular memory controller. This was the case for all memory vendors not just us. The voltages required required may require the QPI to be raised to much higher levels. We've actually done testing here, at it was able to withstand the 1.60v for a long duration with a good active cooling system.

With that being said, these voltages are only meant for fine-tuning if you are close. I strongly would not recommend proceeding past the 1.35v if you are not close to being stable. Again it will depend on the strength of the memory controller in your particular cpu.

What's the maximum safe QPI voltage for 24/7 use? You're suggesting 1.4 here, which seems reasonable, but the XMP on the kit sets it above 1.6, which seems staggeringly high. I've got a large air heatsink on the processor, and even added a 40mm fan to the X58 chipset.

I feel like I'm pretty close. As I mentioned, my kit is running 1800+ with tightened timings, even at 1.3 QPI/vtt. I guess all I can do is try.

Is it possible to get the detailed recommended timings for the kit? Thanks again!
