Is there a way to control the box office through a web interface through the official firmare or any of the alternative versions? I am looking to be able to view a file list and/or play a file or folder of content in a web browser or through telnet commands. Ideas?

You can do that through telnet. I remember someone was working on an iphone app for that too.

MedeBO has a web based remote control (check the makeover link in my signature).
That said, this is a remote replacement not a web interface for the player (i.e. enable you to run contents from the player on your web interface), that said I remember seeing attempts to do a web portal on some Russian website but it wasn't for the PBO IIRC.
