    Default P61-R2 and R3 retracted

For those who did not follow the R2 and R3 bug report threads, the P61-R2 and -R3 have been retracted last night. If you have any of these 2 firmwares, it is recommended to flash it back to P61-R1. I am using P61-beta bootcode neutral megapack and I am very happy with it.

lol, now thats certainly a change (any change is better than no change).
It wasn't like the firmwares will blow up the box or something
And its not like P61R1 wasn't equally buggy (just check the P61 bug report thread).

You address bugs by releasing more firmwares with bug fixes not by removing the buggy firmware.

Anyway, lets hope the change means that they are taking the PBO firmware development more seriously.

Google has diluted the meaning of "beta" enough to where people ignore the label now.

Running a public beta isn't a problem in and of itself.

The problem arises when people who install betas expect them to perform like stable releases, and carelessly strain the support channels when they don't. Another problem is with users who are unaware of how to file good bug reports, which mucks things up for the developers.

If PM continues to release beta firmwares, and I hope they do, they'll need to stress those things.

Will gladly revert to stable version if they able to play most of my movies, but they don't and the FW so far still sucks. They just don't know how to prioritizes features.

But what you need to know is PM never released any non-beta firmwares up to this point (except for P01/P02).
Every single firmware after the above two was first released as beta, then "RENAMED" by removing the "beta" prefix after PM started shipping it on the retail boxes.
Its sad, but true, this is PM unique approach to software development for the last 12 or so months.

Microsoft never release any non-beta OS either.

Sure they do, anything with ME or Vista in the name is Beta... they just use a different term!

    Default Firmware retracted

Its funny how Patriot issues an update to the firmware by retracting the newer ones they posted. With humor, I say, "Is Patriot now going to issue firmware updates by going back and retracting the ones they have posted?"

Read again. That is exactly what I meant.
