Question Which firnware/bootcode verison in my PBO

    Hi newbie here.

I just got my PBO and I'm trying to understand if I need to upgrade my firmware or leave it alone.
    Here the information:
    System Revision: P0020BC18-61.
    Kernel Revision: 323634
    Bootup: 27. Bootcode: 0000.0202.0027.

    Thanks

    Welcome to the PBO forums.
As bolded above, your current firmware is 27 (which is the latest), and your firmware is P61R1 (the latest is P61R3 two versions later).
P61x has minor differences, so if you don't have problems with P61 there is no urgent need for you to upgrade.
[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason ? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it ? it never hurts to rant here [*]Wishing for the time machine? give your PBO a makeover. [*]Bricked it while doing so ? unbrick it for $5[*]Not into cross flashing? keep it semi-official [*]Too lazy to read all that ? you asked for it.[*] Thank U PBO

    aasoror,

    Thanks for response.
I tested few things on my PBO and it working (movies, pictures, and IMS).
Just have to read more how to add other IMS. Netflix and Hulu is one my do list to get it working once I tried Playon or Tversity to see which is one is best one. I wish PBO had Netflix native but all good. I liked my PBO already compare to my old HTPC.

    regards

    Lightbulb My exact Question also!!

Soooo glad you asked this has been very unclear as to how to decipher the whole update system that is going on here! I have the exact same numbers in every category so this cleared up all of my questions, the firmware update page needs to give a full example of what it is they're talking about. Not just using the ending numbers of lines of text that have similar wording used to describe the info needed to confirm your actual specific versions. This page would do a world of good if it was posted on the firmware downloads page before the instructions on HOWTO but rather a DO I EVEN NEED TO? For all those with new units that are wondering. I think that will stop a lot of unnecessary traffic on this site and also free up the forums traffic of those hunting for exact answers before "BRIKING" their unit as so gleefully put. Having firmware updates available is tempting for most new owners so they can get full usage from the new toy but most are aware of the problems that may arise from lack of knowledge on howto or actually reading the full context and understanding it fully before attempting. Many firmware updates have parts of the process that use terms that are unclear or not correct at all for every product. I have fallen prey years back with a camera that was not recognized by Windows but I could still transfer pix via smartmedia reader. I still went and updated for convenience and found myself at a point that instructed me to turn the camera dial to setup but do not shut the camera off, the off setting was between the transfer and the setup and I hesitated to go any further but once you start you must go on! needless to say that camera developed a case of the no picture taking and I promptly threw it as hard as I could on the tile floor and ended that problem, out $200.
