    Default Ae1000?

    Hi Guys,

I was hoping to get an AE1000 working on the 5ghz frequency, but I cannot get the PBO to recognize the stick. I've loaded Infosite 7 and read that the AE1000 should have the 3572 chip, but the driver does not work.

With that being said, any advice or should I RMA the AE1000 and either

    a) stick with my USB-N10
    b) look into a 300Mbps adapter

Does it make any sense to try and get on 5ghz?

    Thanks in advance!

    - you can use your PC to make sure the stick isn't faulty.
    - have you made sure there is no different hardware revisions of the stick ? (google the stick USB device ID from the control panel).
    - 5ghz was reported to run more stable and reliable on the PBO, but you have to make sure that all your network (router and each single client) is running in 5ghz band.

Thanks for all the help aasoror. I googled the device I'd earlier and it was showing tamura not ra. I'll check connectivity through my pc tomorrow.

With that being said, do you have a link to a reliable 5ghz adapter?

    Thanks again.

Final verdict is the 2870 drivers didn't allow the PBO to recognize the adapter either. So I will be sending back and sticking with the ASUS for now. Thx.

I can confirm that AE1000 does not work even with the RaLink driver installed.

Is there no way to get the Cisco/Linksys AE1000 to work with this PBO media player? I bought it just for this player and i couldn't return it.

How likely is Patriot to include a driver for this type of wireless adapters in the next firmware update if we request it?

No way with the current available drivers, so unless someone finds proper source code and complies compatible drivers from source or finds a newer set of compiled drivers.

Very unlikely. (even if we requested it, take a look at the wishlist sticky and you would understand).

The AE1000 works great on desktop but not on PBO. For PBO, you may have a better luck with the Airlink101 6075 or get a router to be used as client bridge. I have my NAS attached to an N router and I have each of my two PBO wired to a wireless N router in client mode or client bridge to the primary N router. Although I am only getting 130Mbps connection, I can stream most 1080p benchmark videos (except the 2 or 3 highest bit rate ones) smoothly. People using USB wifi adapter does not seem to work too well with HD video. Anyway, I just ordered one Airlink 6075 for $9.5 to compare the performance myself.
