[*]Still new..? check the wiki. [*]Your shares gone for no reason? Create a machine shortcut. [*]Trashing the G-adapter? upgrade cheaply to N. [*]Getting the hang of it? get organized .. add share shortcuts. [*]Getting sick of it

I just brought the Media Player and is having the same problem playing the MP4 files. I thought the problem is with this specific unit and was going to return the unit. You mean firmware needs to be updated right out of the box to play the MP4 files? What firmware should be used? Any way to backup the original firmware before program with new firmware? Sounds like people can brick the unit trying to program the firmware. Thanks for the help and happy holidays.

Welcome to the PBO forums PBO_gw_2010.
latest firmware (P61 or P61R2) should fix your problem.
Download from the official sticky in the root of the forum.
You don't need to backup the original firmware because its already downloadable from the same sticky P05.
Yes with any firmware update there is a propability of bricking your box, but again most of the time all it takes it to restart the update and things will go smoothly, that said sh*t happens to most of us when least expected
Happy holidays to you too,
Best of luck,

aasoror - Thanks for your reply and guidance. There is certainly lots of information here. Looks like the bootcode in my PBO is Bootcode 26. 1) Can you confirm that I should be using "Official Release #8 for Bootcode 18 or higher" to resolve the MP4 issue? 2) The Firmware System Revision update Procedure said " DO NOT remove the usb drive UNTIL the screen goes back to the setup page or the Patriot Logo Screen." Are we talking about seconds or minutes before the setup page reappear?

Right. You can use the Bootcode 18 or higher firmware to update your pbo since you have boot 26.
The screen will return to normal mode or setup mode fairly quickly plobably in 3-5 minutes may be faster. It depends on the speed of your flash drive that you're using to flash the pbo.
