    For craps and giggles I tried deleting a file from the command line while I was telnetted in. I could do that ok. I am not sure if that tells me anything since it was mounted as user guest but deleted as root.

    I wonder what user permissions dvdplayer is being run under? That might be where the problem is coming from because apparently the realtek_guest permissions match the dvdplayer user permissions and allow for the deleting but plain guest doesn't match that for some strange reason.

    I would like to re-visit this subject and see if anyone that uses a cifs mounted share can confirm or deny the ability to delete a file.
